ELS Closure

Back in 2000 I developed the Electronic Lap Scoring System (ELS) - initially to measure hovercraft racing laptimes, to enable the development of new forms of racing, moving away from the old engine capacity based formulae.

Over the years it was expanded to record race results, calculate points, keep driver records, automatically measure noise levels, support endurance racing, post results in real time to the internet and support a 4 camera live video streaming service that covered Hovercraft Racing in the UK, across Europe and, in 2009, from the USA.

The radio tags on craft were abandoned in 2016, and with them the laptimes service, but the software has continued to be used until 2023 by the Hovercraft Club of Great Britain to calculate points, record race results and keep driver records.

I’m delighted to say the HCGB has now commisioned a new system to calculate points and keep records which has been successfully tested during the 2023 season.

Therefore this website will close in the coming months and next seasons results will appear on the HCGB website.

If your race results from say 2009 - 2023 are of any sentimental value to you, then you’d better download them off the site now!!

My focus now is developing my electric hovercraft - Sound of Silence.
